Thank You for Helping Us Grow!!

I was asked a couple of weeks ago to plan and decorate the going away party for Brad (our children's pastor) and KK.  I had no idea where to even start.  They are both so special to us, and I still don't like the idea of them leaving.  I wanted it to be really special for them.  I had a meeting set up with one of our pastors to discuss my ideas and the budget, and I still had no clue what I was going to do.  An hour before my meeting, I had gone downtown to meet a friend for lunch, and I was sitting in my car praying for the Lord to show me what to do.  I looked up, and this is what I saw...

2 things came to my mind... forget-me-not flowers, and planting seeds/growing. I felt a little push that this was the right direction.  Brad has planted SO many seeds in these children. He may never get to see the fruit, but he most definitely has been a part of planting the seeds... in my children for sure. So I went to work with those ideas. The next time we had church, I asked several of the kids to tell me what they love about Mr. Brad, and wrote them front and back on these little flower picks...

Ben helped me spray paint plain terra-cotta flower pots, and I planted some little spring flowers.  Super cute, and budget-friendly.

This is how it turned out before the food was set out...

On the main little table, I bought a set of plain wooden Jenga blocks, and had a sharpie for people to write them notes on the blocks.  Of course, my main theme... "Thank you for helping us grow!"

"Thank you for planting seeds in our children."

"Faith is like a little seed... If planted, it will grow!"

"From a small seed, a might trunk may grow."

And then of course, I had these setting all around...

I love how it all turned out, and I think Brad and KK did too, which was the most important thing.  I gave her all of the pots and flowers to take home.  The sad part was that I had to leave immediately, because I had promised and bought ballet tickets for Austin and I.  :(  But Ben took some photos for me, and I had volunteers to help with the food.

We have been so blessed to have gotten to know Brad and KK as great friends, and to have them invest in our kids' lives. We are SO thankful for them!!!!  We will miss y'all so much!!
